ACCESSIBILITY THAT OPENS EDUCATION TO EVERYONE

We bring deep EdTech expertise to accessibility compliance. Our specialists understand the unique challenges of educational platforms and content-large learning management systems, adaptive assessments, complex interactivity, multimedia experiences, and hands-on simulations. Whether you're building new products or improving existing assets, our accessibility consultants embed with your teams throughout the development lifecycle.

We provide expert guidance during design reviews, code reviews, and QA cycles, ensuring standards such as WCAG, Section 508 and EN 301 549 are implemented correctly from the start. This integrated approach transforms compliance from a checklist into engineering practice, reducing risk and preventing costly post-launch fixes.

DOJ Extends ADA Web Accessibility Deadlines: What This Means for EdTech and Publishing

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued an Interim Final Rule extending the compliance deadlines for digital accessibility under ADA Title II to April 2027.

The goal is simple: Identify what remains, fix it effectively, and ensure it stays fixed.

What Changed

Deadlines extended by one year

  • Large public entities (≥50,000 population): April 26, 2027
  • Smaller entities and special districts: April 26, 2028

Requirements and scope remain unchanged with conformance to WCAG 2.1 Level AA still required for websites and mobile applications.

What Opportunity Does This Present

This is not a relaxation of requirements; it is a timeline adjustment. For organizations that have already started addressing accessibility, the extension provides a more realistic window to close remaining gaps and strengthen their approach. Those earlier in the journey can now approach accessibility systematically rather than reactively. If accessibility is on your roadmap, this is the right time to evaluate your current state and define a clear path forward.

How We Can Help

We can help publishers and edtech platforms make the most of the extended accessibility timelines by:

  • Building step-by-step plans to align with the new deadlines.
  • Identifying the most important accessibility issues to focus on first.
  • Distributing accessibility fixes across existing product releases to reduce disruption.
  • Embedding accessibility into ongoing product development to avoid last-minute fixes.
  • Setting up simple processes and checks to support steady progress toward compliance.

Accessible Product Development

We proactively build accessibility into products from the ground up through design and development, applying WCAG and Section 508 standards to ensure your digital learning experiences work for all students. Our teams integrate during wireframing and prototyping phases, creating accessible design systems and component libraries that scale across your product. We bring specialized expertise in LMS accessibility, mobile application development, and interactive learning content.

Accessibility Audits

We evaluate digital platforms and assets against WCAG, Section 508, and EN 301 549 standards using a combination of automated testing and manual evaluation with assistive technologies. Our audits deliver actionable findings with clear remediation guidance, helping you understand exactly what needs to be fixed and why. We test using industry-standard screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack) and provide detailed reports with prioritized recommendations, code examples, and implementation timelines.

Accessibility Remediation

We fix accessibility barriers in existing systems, web content, mobile applications, PDFs, and interactive learning materials. Our specialists help you overcome compliance issues while improving overall usability, ensuring your legacy assets meet current standards. We prioritize critical blockers that prevent access first, then address progressive enhancements, working within your existing development workflows and content management systems.

Accessibility Maintenance & Support

We provide ongoing monitoring and maintenance to keep your digital products compliant as you release updates and new features. Our specialists conduct regular accessibility reviews, test new releases before deployment, and help your teams resolve issues quickly, ensuring continuous compliance without slowing down your development velocity.

Accessibility Conformance Documentation

We generate Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) using current VPAT templates, providing the documentation you need for procurement requirements or RFPs and demonstrating your commitment to inclusive education.

Why Accessibility Matters Beyond Compliance

Accessibility isn't just about meeting legal requirements. It's about removing barriers that prevent students from learning. When educational platforms and content work seamlessly with assistive technologies, students with disabilities can focus on mastering concepts instead of fighting with tools. Our approach ensures compliance protects your organization while creating learning experiences that genuinely serve all students, increasing engagement and improving outcomes across your entire learner population.
